Skilled Teams and the not so skilled

It would be so nice for everyone you work with to be reading from the same piece of paper, including management and the people who hold the purse strings. The Dunning Kruger symptoms are discovered far too frequently, but like any American conspiracy movie (Shooter?), work is a huge game of politics, glory hunting and second guessing. When you work with a good team, you protect it, love it and don’t really ever want to move. You’ll take the pay cuts, extra overtime and burning comments from those at home to retain your happy every day activity which ultimately pays the bills and puts food in your mouth. For the times when you don’t work in that team, below are some nice one liners to keep yourself entertained with.

“He can compress the most words into the smallest idea of any man I know.”

Abraham Lincoln

“He is not only dull himself, he is the cause of dullness in others.”

Samuel Johnson

“He had delusions of adequacy.”

Walter Kerr

“He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts… for support rather than illumination.”

Andrew Lang

“His mind is so open – so open that ideas simply pass through it.”

F. H. Bradley

“[He is] The only genius with an IQ of 60.”

Gore Vidal

“Somewhere a village is lacking its idiot!”

British Schoolmasters

“He is a modest man who has much to be modest about”

Winston Churchill

“Don’t blame the boss. He has enough problems.”

Donald Rumsfeld

“Show me a man who is a good loser and I’ll show you a man who is playing golf with his boss.”

Jim Murray

“If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tyre, the next morning you will have a flat tyre.”

Cannon's Law

“The higher a monkey climbs, the more you see of his behind.”

Gen. Joe Stillwell

“Everyone rises to their level of incompetence.”

Dr. Lawrence Peter

“The key to being a good manager is keeping the people who hate you away from those who are still undecided.”

Casey Stengal

“His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of morbid curiosity”

Army Reference

There are so many of these floating around, but the above represent some of my favorite. Also, many of these could leave you without a job so probably not a good idea to actually use them.
